I’ve currently got two desktops and a laptop which is connected to a Belkin Wireless moden/router. Desktop is connected via usb with the router and the laptop connects using the internal wireless card.

I often play online games (on the laptop) over this connection and haven’t had any problems till recently. When working my ping stays around 100 with sent reading around 250-300 bps and received around or over 2.5k bps. For no reason my send will shoot down to around 40 kbps and my latency goes to around 700. Causing my game character freeze and not move while the rest of the game carries on if noting had happened.

Is this a problem to do with upload speed? I have scanned for spyware/virus and I’ve not changed any settings on my router. The issue will come and go at random and last completely random times also.

Websites at first took their time to load and my ISP speed test took a dive from around 800kbps to 250. They are now back over 800 but it seems to have left with this latest problem. I guessing this is my router causing this.

Anyone know?

You should check to make sure your firmware on your router is up to date, that’s the most common cause of speed loss issues, if the problem persist post back about it.

If the problem is still persisting I suggest checking your Ethernet cables.

I got a new lap top for Christmas Dell Inspiron 8 mini and as you may know it doesn't have a CD drive, but I have an external CD drive to use. When I insert the Windows XP setup disk into the drive it doesn't start the setup it just show me the contents of the CD. I've tried to click on the setup icon with the file extension .exe and it won't start but jeust tell me that there is no application to run the program and i can't boot from the removable devices either. SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE.
